In my opinion.....Bega is pretty average...though as with most cheddar brands, they do have their "full and crumbly" varieties which aren't bad. I'm a big fan of extremely fully matured cheddar, and we make some great ones in Australia. Unfortunately, Bega is a mass produced cheddar with not much taste. Mersey Valley is a good one, and the extra bitey one produced by Cracker Barrel (Kraft, believe it or not!) is not bad. Watsonia makes a good full matured waxed cheddar too.
I know what you're saying....after living in Asia for 9 years where they don't even know how to spell "cheese", it can get pretty frustrating!
But the beef ribs should be bloody good!

Thanks for the info. I tried Bega "Strong and Bitey" and found it was neither. I bought "Mild" today but haven't tried it. The cheese situation is getting better in Korea. I can now find things like Edam cheese in the large supermarkets though there was none today and I had to settle for cheddar. Still, better than processed cheese slices.
I'm going to make German Spare ribs in the crockpot later this week.
Formerly known as Masuro.
The sun never sets on a PBEM game.
I hate Edam....so damn tasteless. But if you can get a good Gouda.......
