Having condiered con's suggestions we will play by the following rules:

*We will all play as Old World civs.
*No attacking Old World civs in the Old World. (We are much too civilized for that kind of behavior.)
* No palace jumping to the New World.
*No diplo or trades with the AI until turn 2. (I have heard rumors that trades are very unfair with the AI during turn 1)

Do we need other rules?

That leaves the English and the French - and of course the Dutch.

I'll go with the English. "God save the Queen!"

And there was one other house rule if I recall. And that was that a city could only access one resource of a given kind with a mine, or factory.

Also - if it wasn't mentioned above - the old world basically includes everything settled at the start of the game - including the south side of Gibralter, and the eastern Atlantic islands. Any new city is fair game.

I will also add a game hint - given that Rhothaerill smoked us in an earlier game at this. Don't get too caught up in the old civilization habit of simply trying to expand, and create a great and wonderful empire. Review carefully how you actually win this game. I can show you my new world empire when I was playing as the English in the game Rhoth won as the Portuguese. I had huge tracts of the new world under control, and still lost.
