Somebody come and play - today

I am looking to start a PBEM using one of the Conquests. I don't have them in front of me so forgive me for my lack of specifics. I was thinking maybe like the Age of Discovery with 3 or 4 players. If there are only two or three of us we'd all start in the Old World. If we get four players we can go 2 and 2. I am not thinking that we'd have teams like Old World vs New World - that will have to play out.

Anyone interested? Anyone interested in a different Conquest?

Ground Rules
*We will all play as Old World civs.
*No attacking Old World civs in the Old World. (We are much too civilized for that kind of behavior.)
*No palace jumping to the New World.
*No diplo or trades with the AI until turn 2. (I have heard rumors that trades are very unfair with the AI during turn 1)

I hadn't noticed this thread. I'm in for a game, all other PBEM's seem to have come to a dranatic slow down/ death. One of the things I found out in cIV was how much I like C3C....

cIV PBEMS are slow getting started due to unresolved technical issues. :sigh: I guess we should have expected that.

Had not read carefully enough about the scenario's. I don't really play them so I wouldn't know about them either. Take your pick...

Same here, I have glanced only briefly at the Conquest scenarios and that was a while ago. Just picking one is fine with me too.

OK. Sounds great. I'll try to look at them tonight, but it is the night that we are supposed to decorate our tree. I'll get to it tonight or tomorrow and post the playable civs. We can choose and then start playing.

Age of Discovery:
I think we should play as either all old world or all new world civs. Which do you prefer?

Old World:
Goal - Be the best at exploiting the New World.
Spain
Portugal
France
England
Netherlands

New World:
Goal - Hold off New World for a one city culture victory
Aztecs
Maya
Inca

I lean towards playing as Europeans but I'm easy.

I guess my personal first choice would be new world, but either is fine. And if we can entice a fourth player, we'll need to go old world anyway as there are only 3 new world civs.

If we got a fourth player we could go with 2 new, 2 old. This doesn't mean that it would play out to be new vs old either. France could get the Inca to attack Spain or the Maya. We'd have to see where this goes.

If we don't get a fourth and I doubt we could all take what ever civs we want, new or old. I was just trying to put every one on an equal footing.

Any ideas on a fourth player?

I have played this one several times. Best thing to do is find a fourth and play European Civ's.

House rule should be no attacking fellow Europeans in Europe. Without that rule its to easy to get this game out of balance. Been there and done that it plays a lot better with that house rule.

That includes The Port city in North Africa and the starting European Islands (both Spain and Portugal)

Another rule you should consider is no palace jumping to the New World.

But you should find a 4th for the balance. A 5th to play the Netherlands would be good but not a necessary as the 4 biggies (England, France, Spain, Portugal)
