With the discussion of restarts in another game I double-checked this one and must offer my sincere apologies. Everyone has quite tough starts, but Sir Ralph has an absolutely unplayable one. I'm impressed that no one has made a serious complaint, but I would like to regenerate this one. Again, my apologies- I have not had as much free time as I would like to dedicate to this tournament recently...Enjoy Slurm - it's highly addictive!

IMO: that is how one improves gameplay
I am currently playing in 2 other pbems where the start was less than desireable.
But I dont have alll the facts. Its early enough to do this.
IMO: after 10 turns played, no restartanti steam and proud of it
CDO ....its OCD in alpha order like it should be

oops, almost forgot to post... 3800bc sent a while ago
EDIT: You restarted this one? What a pity, I thought it was an interesting game. My start is tough, yes, but it was by no means unplayable. I would have settled the next turn.

new t1 s out and played
have no clue how u generate these maps, but they look very weired to me, I ve played loads of MP games with normal map generator - in about 75% u have a river or lake start - or can at least "smell the water"
but these maps make a agri trait useless
btw 3 of u picked nonancient civs - do u really think we ll get out of ancient age?

I had alot of trouble generating decent maps- Tiny w/70% ocean worked well for 4 players, but even bumping ocean down to 60% doesn't seem to have left enough land for 5 decent RNG starts. I tried to balance fresh water the first time, but this time it was all I could do to find enough food for everyone.
The maps also look a bit odd because of the Y-wrapping- I hope this shakes up strategy a bit without changing any fundamental game elements...Enjoy Slurm - it's highly addictive!

Oh and by the way, the agricultural trait is, just like the expansionist one, meant to be a gamble. If you had water guaranteed, it would be way overpowered.
I'm all for excluding these two traits from MP games. They either put you in advantage, if you are lucky, or disadvantage, if not. There's no middle way. MP games, however, should be as little dependant on luck as possible.
