You missed me by two days there.

That being said, count me in as the Miyoshi.

Would you consider stripping the Yamabushi monks of their incredible running speed (treat all terrain as roads)?
    Seriously. Kung freaking fu.

Imagine having one unit that can go 6 tiles into enemy territory, with 5 defense and lots of Mountains around (it is Japan, after all). Imagine the best offensive unit at the time having an attack of 2. Basically, whoever gets there first can kill or serverly damage one enemy "for free" (no losses or forcing the other to take terrible losses in defense). See here:

It is no fun to defend against even many turns later, with 6-attack units. Granted, speed is cool, but this units is just too strong.
        Seriously. Kung freaking fu.

A smaller improvement might be just stripping the Yamabushi monks of the ability to pillage. See the AU Mod for Conquests thread in the AU forum.

That would keep the flavor of the fast defensive unit but also keep the pillaging down.

AI: I sure wish Jon would hurry up and complete his turn, he's been at it for over 1,200,000 milliseconds now.

Hopefully either at a level higher than Monarch or else with a civ that doesn't have one of the best starts. On Monarch level, it's easy to win a Diplomatic Victory before the AI ever finishes the first era, if you play the right civ.

The easyist way is open up the Civ III conquests editor and bring up the conquest inside it. Right click a tile with circles around it to see which country started where.

Best positions : Those where either founding or place or shifting one tile and then founding will result in your capital having fresh water.

Bad positions : Positions that are far from any source of fresh water.

Poor positions: The five civs starting on smaller islands. (3 and 2)

No civ starts on an island in the MP version.

Actually all the civs start on an island in the MP one. It's just the same one.

The map is considerly smaller in the MP version than SP one and it resulted in land bridges.

I would also guess that the MP starting positions are much more equal than in SP.

you're thinking of the damyio unit. sounds good though, i'm usually good for a turn a day, but i do lapse occaisionally when my girlfriend is visiting and because of work.

i'd like the oda, and actually if you want to, go ahead and prepare the scenario, modo.

You mean change the Yamabushis and put us in the first three (or four is it?) player spots? I can only do the change I proposed - the other one requires some magic I have no knowledge of...
