  • Where are the Iron Civers headed from Here?

Not alot of interest has been shown so far for another tournament. Before spending alot of time promoting and organizing this, I'd like to know what the hardcore PBEMers think about it. Please add any appropriate comments in the thread...

Higher and Higher- Refine the Warrior Code and try out new mods with a dedicated scenario.

Steady as She Goes- The first tournament was a good deal. Run another with similar rules and maybe a few safe mods in a scenario.

See No Evil- I don't read the PBEM forum and never saw this poll.

Make the Homeys say 'Ho!'- Chill out. The tournament is cool, but would be better if the Warrior Code was simplified a bit.

Arrakis Knife- All these rules stink worse than the wrong end of a stillsuit; play it stock with only a few rules to avoid the worst exploits

Potassium Civer- I'd just like a banana-eating tournament to fill my time until Civ4 is released, K?

Would it be a good guess that the Espionage transposition and Coloseums w/TA mods are not considered 'safe'?

My initial thoughts and desire was for "Arrakis Knife- This should be for accomplished PBEMers; play it stock with only a few simple rules to avoid the worst exploits." Then I got to thinking that this whole forum is for the player, whether they have just arrived, or have beem here since the day old Sid was thrown out of the Cyber Womb back in the days of old...

So my vote is for "Steady..."

A lot of fun was had by all in the initial Tournament, and this can be experienced again. Also by playing "Steady..." we are allowing people who have just arrived to join in the fun and entertainment.

My main suggestion is to have someone spend some time organising the roster so that very few people end up in a game with anyone from the first "Iron Civver Tournament"

Apart from that bring it on...

I am sure that the community will quickly fill the roster, especially if you drop in a closed "Advertising Thread" (topped of course, with appropriate links to the various organisational threads like this one) into the tracker forum...

This is part of the initial proposal.

Post the game Rommel - I'm sure it will be enthusiastically taken up by the hardcore PBEM community

My vote was 'steady as she goes'. I'd like to see the next tournament played with a safe mod as close to stock as possible, addressing only the game’s major imbalances. Rommel, I saw your proposals for the next iron civer mod, and must admit that not all appealed to me, but I’ll participate all the same no matter what is decided. I really hope the SoZ is tweaked as per the AU Mod.

I’m not sure if this has been suggested before, but it would be great if the map was reviewed and tweaked by someone not playing in the tournament so that all start locations and surrounding land are even in terms of food/commerce/shields/resources, and also distance from other civs. I feel that the RNG can be a little too random in this aspect which can lead to some players having significant advantages over others.

What does the AU Mod do, increase the cost? The IC mod for the SoZ is alexman's suggestion from the PBEM mod thread, with a disappearance ratio added.

I'll be checking the maps (so Dominae might actually play this time ;-). I don't worry about distance between starting points, as long as all tribes have a fair shot at enough good land and vital resources.

Yes increases the cost but also gets rid of the extra hp. Still makes for a very useful and desirable wonder, but not quite as potent and dominating.

I like the idea of making ivory strategic to ensure better distribution.

                          Great stuff!

How is the Mod testing going? Do we have an estimate as to when the tournament will kick off?
