Hmm... I'm not sure I have time atm to make the significant changes that would be required to use a premade map ... and do people want cities to be there to begin with, or start from scratch? I obviously misread the opinions earlier so I want to check again ...<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

It's been a while since i learned the specifics, but I believe Morrocco or Tunisia was the area in question at the time ...<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

Hmm. Taking a look at Napoleonic era, I can make do with this and possibly fix it up a bit for WWI. Basically give it a whole new tech tree and change the units a bit, increase the drafting strategy (drastically higher number of draftable units, to go with the reality of WWI = essentially a draftee-based war), and fix a few of the nations up.
I suspect we have 6 well playable nations (Britain, France, Russia, Prussia, Austria, Ottomans) and 2 less so (Spain, Sweden). I would suggest Spain and Sweden either be buffed up a little (easily could be done for spain, less so for sweden) or just cut out and/or AIed.
Who wants to play what? We'd start with the Napoleonic MP version map, same cities, roughly similar units (but i'm changing the units, so they'd change a bit). I'll post my changes shortly.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

Okay, here's the tech list. -> is requires the above level tech (--> requires -> etc.); the immediately above, so fascism requires communism, flight requires automation, etc.
Nationalism [started: all] [rifleman] [mobilize/draft/MPP]
-> Communism [gov't] [police] [secret HQ]
--> Fascism [gov't]
-> Espionage [spies]
Steam Power [RR] [Ironclad] [started: all]
-> Industrialization [factory] [w. suffrage sm wonder] [coal plant]
--> Corporation [req: nationalism] [stock exch] [trade embargo]
---> Mil. Tactics [Heavy Cavalry] [Pentagon]
--> Replaceable Parts [infantry]
--> Automation [Machine Inf.] [Artillery]
---> Flight [req: replaceable parts][fighter]
Medicine [started: independents]
-> Electricity [destroyer] [workersx2] [irrigate w/o water]
-->Naval Sup. [req: industrialization] [battleship] [sub]
-> Sanitation [hospital] [flood plains no disease]
If this is confusing i'll try to put together an excel file soonish to make it look prettier.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

Units:
STARTING UNITS
Rifleman: 5/6/1 COST: 80 shields

Cannon: B:12 Range: 1 ROF: 2 COST: 80 shields
Ironclad: 4/4/4 B:4 R:1 ROF:1 COST: 70 shields
Galleon: 1/2/5 COST: 40 shields
ADVANCED UNITS
Infantry 10/10/1 COST: 100 shields
Machine Infantry 6(12)/12/1 Bombard: 12 Range: 0 ROF: 3 COST: 150 shields
Adv Cavalry: 10/6/3 COST: 120 shields

Destroyer: 8/8/8 B: 12 Range: 2 ROF: 2 COST: 120 shields
Battleship: 12/12/6 B: 18 Range: 2 ROF: 3 COST: 210 shields
Submarine: 10/3/5 standard Sub advantages/disadvantages; COST: 140 shields
Transport: 1/5/7 COST: 80 shields
[edit: art'y,battleship down to 18; 24 was too high.]
The expectation is that most forces will end up composed defensively of some machine infantry and some regular infantry (MI are 12.5 shields/DP, Infantry are 10 shields/DP, but MI have bombard); offensive forces will be heavily organized around artillery (as no unit has greater attkc force than the defensive units, or even equal to) and infantry (as cavalry are more expensive for same offensive potential), with Cavalry produced either as quick responders or as quick strike forces. Naval battles might be interesting - there are a decent amount of coastal cities, especially if Prussia goes after Britain, and also especially if we involve the independents (sweden and spain).
Please comment on the balances here etc. I tried to keep the typical civ balances, with respect to cost - upgrades should generally cost less per DP/OP at this point in the game than predecessors - and make a WWI faithful unit balance, encouraging lots of art'y and infantry fighting rather than the quick cavalry strikes of vanilla C3C.Last edited by snoopy369; February 1, 2005, 01:54.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.
