Nation’s Cup IV, February 25th-27th, 2005.
To all Civ addicts near and far,
It is now time for the 4th Nations Cup in which ladder players from all over the world join ranks with their esteemed countrymen and battle against other Nations for the honor of receiving the Nations Cup. No member of the league need sit out. There are many teams that have played in the last three tournaments that could use more players or countries that have not been represented so please read in the forum under the heading Nations Cup forum (in the civplayers Forum) to see which teams will need representation or take the initiative and start your own team for your country to have a spot this coming Nations Cup.
If you are a first timer please note the following:
All participants must be a member of the Civ3 Ladder player’s league(www.myleague.com/civ3players). This event is run by the Civ3 Ladder player’s league administration and tournament directors and it uses ladder tournament software. So if you are not a member of the league and would like to join up please email an admin to get invited to join the league. The league also suggests you familiarize yourself with the game style seen throughout the league to better prepare for the upcoming events. Also, try to play in one of the tournaments the league runs throughout the week to be familiarized with tournament software.
4 players is the minimum for playing in this cup while 12 is the limit for each team. However, each Nation can have more than one team if there is more interest among those players. For example, Finland could have enough players to make two teams which could then be called Finland 1 and Finland 2. Both teams can have 4-12 players each. Once players have agreed to teams they will then need to vote on a Captain or leader who will then post the team roster in the forum(http://civ3players.proboards2.com/in...i?board=NATION) under the heading registration thread. Rosters can be changed up until 10 hours before the first scheduled event which is at 12am EDT Friday the 28th. In the event that one Nation can not get enough players together they can join another Nation and form an alliance. For example, team Sweden, Norway and Denmark could form Team Scandinavia. This can happen 7 days prior to the first event but not before that. Many people find out closer to the date and so to ensure our league members get a chance to play for their respective Nations please wait to form alliances until the 7 day prior timeframe.
The Fourth Nations Cup has undergone some changes regarding rules and schedules. This time all events are scheduled to be played during one weekend. Friday and Saturday will involve all the main events with the final games being played on Sunday. This time we are playing 5 different kinds of ancient games in order to avoid those games which cause issues such as lag and games which take too long. All big games have been eliminated to deal with connection issues between players and other issues that arise.
