Over in a C3C thread, the idea of a RaR PBEM came up and a few players seemed entusiastic. I was asked to start a thread/game of it, and here it is. I will be leaving for Christmas things tonight within an hour, but will be back tomorrow. If people who are interested could post so and also any setting preferences they might have that would be useful. Also, please post how familiar you are with RaR mod. IF there is enough demand (say, more than six) this will be split into two games and it would be approporiate to have people of comparable skill and knowledge levels to play together. Hopefully I can get at least one game off the ground tomorrow. BTW, I have limited experience with RaR myself. I dabbled with DyP a bit, and when an RaR PBEM came up a few months ago, I DLed the mod and played a few SP games through the Anciant Age to get an idea of how the early game works, but that's it.

I'd be interested in this one. I have no experience with the mod other than what was hinted at in the other thread, but I do tend to do well in new circumstances. Is the RaR documented in the civilopedia and somewhat helpful...?Enjoy Slurm - it's highly addictive!

Yeah, they're work on the civpedia is fairly extensive and accurate AFAIK. You'll need to head over to C&C at CFC to get the mod. Make sure you have the 'PTW Extras' folder, too. If you just bought C3C and not PTW, you may not have it."I used to be a Scotialist, and spent a brief period as a Royalist, but now I'm PC"

Yep. Sign me up.
I guess I/m pretty familier with RaR as I have played several SP games to their conclusion. The pedia is very extensive, but there are a few things missing. If you have any questions on things, ask me or, even better, go to the CFC thread on this mod and ask the developers. Thats where they seem to post the most.
For me, I always win on Regent, usually win on Monarch and occasionally win on Emperor (this is with standard C3C games). My experience with RaR is I guess extensive (compared with what I've seen posted so far). I am not that experienced in MP/PBEM, with only 2 MP games under my belt and 1 PBEM (although I was highly involved with The Glory of War in the PTW Demo game and the C3C Intersite Demo Game).
Game settings I would like depend on the number of players.
Size: Tiny (4 players)/Small (5 or 6 Players)
Land Type: Random
Climate: Random on all
Difficulty: Regent (those damn barbs are tough enough!)
Barbs: Random
AI: None
Civ choice: Babylon, Korea, Germany, Random (I would prefer all to be random)
Allow all victory types and Cultural conversions. Preserve Random seed and Allow SGLs.Founder of The Glory of War, CHAMPIONS OF APOLYTON!!!

I'm cool with Random everything (except world size, of course). Difficulty doesn't matter much for MP, but Regent is fine. Definitely no AI. As for rules, I'm pretty sure you're suggesting what I would normally do, which is 'Default Rules' except without CLSL."I used to be a Scotialist, and spent a brief period as a Royalist, but now I'm PC"

Here's the RaR thread at CFC. You just have to visit the download site. It is a relatively large download (which is why you need to go to a specific download site), but it only took me about 5 minutes with a run-of-the-mill high-speed connection. Even 56k should be able to get it in less then 15 minutes, I would think. Savee the file wherever is most convenient and then extract (unzip) into you Conquests/Scenarios folder. If you ever want to try a single player version of the game, just select 'Civ-Content' from the main menu when you open C3C and then select 'RaRV1.00' (or something like that) from the list of scenarios."I used to be a Scotialist, and spent a brief period as a Royalist, but now I'm PC"

it said we need some additional files, is it true or that for another mod?
Gramps
Here is a cut 'n paste of what I read:
Important: To be able to play RaR, you need the unit animation folders "World War II" and "Medieval Japan". These folders were part of the PtW addon, but are not included in C3C. However, the files are available to download here.
and I have another 3 minutes then it will be d/l on me HD!!

You do need for this mod, but you may already have them. There won't be any harm in getting them, except bandwidth, but if you're getting RaR anyway, I doubt the folders will be anywhere near the size. I think they're up on the Civ3.com site, so they're probably about as big as a patch, if that large."I used to be a Scotialist, and spent a brief period as a Royalist, but now I'm PC"
