Hate to say it, but the patches are f***ing up everything.

Conquests runs fine without the patch(s) but when i install them and try to run it, i get that weird "error loading font (error code: 28)" thing

trying to sort it out...

CIVIII,PTW and Conquests and have you the patches loaded in succession?

yes. been looking on the net and some people are having the same problem. most of the solutions arent working

Zulu - good luck. But it is a bit odd. I haven't encountered the problems you have mentioned.

my suggestion is to:

- download the full version 1.22 patch and file it

- strip the civIII from your pc

- load Civ III

- load Conquests

- install the full version 1.22 patch

Probably duplicating what you've researched, but the two main solutions i recall from the original discussions:

* Make sure the lsans.fot font file(s) are present in the right places. Perhaps in the windows font directory?

* Some people claim EM_EXEC (logitech mouse driver) causes it, though I and many other have no problems. But try killing it anyways

* Shut down :all: of your programs running other than the barebones (system, explorer, etc.) and run it. Problem still? Then you probably have a corrupt installation, or your computer won't play well with it.

Reinstalling is a good idea, and i suggest redownloading, from a different source if possible, the patch. (If you got it from infogrames then you should be fine, but even then it's worth a redownload). The patch itself isn't the specific problem - this error 28 problem happens as you probably know with various patches to various programs, and if you have conquests then that means you have patches enough by default to risk hitting the error. Otherwise, i don't know ... but try the font thing first.

Also make sure you're using the US version of C3C and the US patch and the US Civ3 ... or otherwise the same version of all 3 if another version. (Not sure if 1.22 is available in other languages yet...)
