Some states are known for a large concentration of certain ethnic groups....however, each year that passes, things get more and more mixed up as the population becomes ever more mobile.

Several of the notables

Pennsylvania -- German and Dutch (hence the Pennsylvanian Dutch legacy)

Upper Midwest (Minnesota, Dakotas, Iowa) - Scandinavian (no Berserkers here )

Appalachia (West Virginia, Tennessee, Northern Alabama) Scotish

Boston has a sizeable Portuguese population.

Chinese in northern California

Everyone knows about New York...
