My suggestion to McMeadows can clearly be labelled blackmail. I started the war, he suffered most, and his allies betrayed him.

My treaty with jshelr on the other hand...Such treaties are called 'war damages'* Jshelr started the war, it was him who wanted to get out of it, it was him who made a proposal to me. And now he is running away from that agreement. His deeds will not go unpunished.

Both Flandrien and jshelr don't stand a chance if they don't ally. For that reason, there's no other option than to trust one another...
They may be successful, or maybe not. Thanks to the kind gods of RNG, my army is as big as ever.

Flandrien, you'll have to decide between a weak alliance with a civ who will betray you whenever he'll se fit. Not to mention your enemy might be able to crush you both.

Or you can have peace with said enemy, whose word can be trusted.

Who cares who Carthage is allied to.
They have yet to win their first battle.

But it's a fascinating read for the rest of us. Unfortunately, it's pretty hard to work out what's going on from the outside...or even who's got the upper hand A minimap would be nice....but I can understand your reticence if you haven't all explored the map.

But in any event....looks like a great game. Keep it up guys!

(PS: Any hints as to where you're up to in research?)

This game is fascinating indeed. Some spectacular battles and a lot of diplo talk. If I'd saved all those e-mails and PM's I would have a nice book. We, the Vikings have just lost our capital. The good news is, we finally took a casualty at the Mongol side. If not for an anoying detail overlooked by jshelr, there could have been more casualties. Some years ago our brave leader had allready sent out a selected party of true Vikings to search for new homeland. Stockholm was founded and as of 670 BC it is the capital of Scandinavia. Needless to mention our territory is particulary small, as is our population and our perspective of lasting very long in the game.

The Mongols have razed the former capital of the Vikings and are still controlling 3 of their former cities. Therfore the Mongols have by far the biggest land area under their control. Furthermore their SoZ has allready been spitting out AC's for centuries (erected around 1800 BC due to the inspiration of a SGL) and sofar no AC has been lost. Add built and captured cats, several well trained HM and some defensive spears and one is getting an impression of the might of Mongolia.

Carthage, was once cornered on a peninsulla by the Vikings (west of Carthage), who were suffering from that lack of space just as well, but not able to expand due to the presence of the Mongolians on the mainland (south of the Vikings). Now Carthage has a new neighboor in the Mongolians.

Russia has emerged at the east side of Mongolia. After having a slow start compared to the other nations, under the rule of conqueror, their new leader jshelr, had Russia use their scientific trait to the fullest. Russia weakend the alliance against Mongolia after the whipe out of the Viking forces, which demonstrated the huge power of Mongolia. Retreating Russian forces, their czar signed a peace offer. This peace treaty has recently been torn apart by the czar, after he felt the treaty was rather blackmail. This tought only rose in his mind after the word reached him that Gothenburg was under heavy siege.

McMeadows of the Vikings will recide at his newly build villa at a tranquil coast. Now that there's no significant role for the Vikings in the IronB coliseum, he'll go fishing, and leave matters of world politics to the other leaders.

                  Save to jshelr

The allies are ahead in research by roughly 80 turns. Knights could appear at any time

Of course, the allies' tech lead is also growing by more than one turn every turn. The search for saltpeter is about to commence

                          having a government upgrades everything

from bongo's viewpoint his army is number one, but his economy is soon to be number 3. that ticking sound you hear is the clock marking the time left until AC's are truly outmoded.

                          We expect a visit soon

                          • Thanks for the update. It is indeed a fascinating game. I find it interesting that your world errupted into war so early! You're still only in the 600BC's!!!

                            • Mate, we've been at war for centuries:

1550 BC: tech trade embargo between Russia, Carthage & Scandinavia against Mongolia
1525 BC: suprise attack by Mongolia on Scandinavia
1275 BC: Carthage & Russia announce they join the side of Scandinavia

I'll have to look again for when they retreated, allthough technically Carthage has remained in the war.
