          Turn sent to Netherlands.

Question: I saw a reference in a different thread to "picket lines" not being an acceptable tactic in multiplayer games. I think I may be doing it to the Egyptians (not that they deserve it or anything )

Should I be leaving a square open?

You mean placing military units on your coast so he can't invade you? Nothing wrong with that, IMHO. In fact, you can't even do it with Workers in C3C. You need units with non-zero defense to prevent a landing.

Is that another little-advertised change to a rather important strategic element of the game? I've noticed the AI still doesn't seem to do it, but was meaning to test if it was possible. Can you capture cities from a ship also?

Yes, the AI still suffers, but this C3C fix was put in with MP in mind.

I don't think you can capture vacant cities without amphibious units though. I have not tried it, but if that were true I suspect I would have heard about it.

The thing is, the AI never leaves a city vacant, ever, does it?

Usually not (although I have seen vacant AI cities for several turns after barbarian attacks), but since there is no AI in this tournament, why should we care what the AI does?

you still need to attack a unit to get through though!

which is fine imo. if a player gets in your borders theres no way to force them to leave instantly, so picket line measures works good

                      and turn sent

That was my thought as well, plus there would be some risk in spreading out your units. It would only be effective against 'friends'.

                        Turn sent to Netherlands

I don't think you need to attack a worker. You capture him and you can still attack another unit, as long as you have MP left.

I think capturing uses up your 'attack' point.

                              Turn sent.
