There is an historical precedent for what happened. The ancient Shilla dynasty in Korea was getting whipped by the Baekje kingdom (also Korean) and, realising they couldn't possibly win the war, went to the northern Korean kingdom of Koryo and handed over its lands and sovereignty (spelling?). Koryo then went on to conquer the whole peninsula and parts of China.

Well since you've tried to justify it.....historical precedent is irrelevant. The tournament rules specifically prohibited it, if I recall correctly. Still, since it's done and rickety seems to have disappeared, there's not much we can do now.
By the way, how did masuro get rickety's capital? I don't believe you can't gift your capital.
