Sometimes I find the LSANS.fot for conquests on my desktop or in my C: directory... usually after spyware wipes.

I get LSANS.fot on my desktop every time I reboot, and delete it immediately- been wondering what it was from. What's it for?

Actually mr. ralph sent me the save yesterday, and I forwarded it to Krill, along with notification to Ralph to continue sending to Krill.

Krill seems to have vanished again without a trace. Internet problems, I imagine, because he gave no warning.

I'm sure he would not mind if snoopy369 kept the game going. So Snoop, would you mind playing Krill's turn and sending it along?

LSANS.fot is for the text of civ3, if you don't have it in your folder it will give you an error and exit.

What in the world would be creating an icon for this on my desktop everytime I reboot?

Hmm. Windows Explorer does things like that. For me, it opens the same folder every time i reboot my computer, even if i close it, and doesn't open any other folders automatically, even though i open them.

I think it has to do with Active Desktop trying to keep itself the way it was before. Is it making just one icon (ie replacing a deleted icon) or making a new one each time? If it's making a new one each time it's probably something in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->Software->Microsoft->Windows->Current Version->Run Once, or HKEY_CURRENT_USER and the same. Various things could cause it there.

If it's recreating a deleted icon each time, i'd guess it's the Active Desktop. I dunno which ver of windows you have, but most of them let you take a "snapshot" of the desktop for the next time it has to recover from a crash... try that.
