    Game Tracking

I'd suggest looking over the etiquette/exploit list to make sure everyone is aware of them and agrees on the options before beginning.

    In particular:
    1-2a
    1-3a
    1-3b
should be specifically agreed to. Likewise with the possibility of combat reports.

    Other items that bear repeating:
    Rules
    11) All players expected to make simple 'sent' post in tracking thread each turn, listing year played, except when technical problems interfere.

    and
    etiquette/exploits
1-3 Players shall not exchange in-game information until they are represented on each other's foreign advisor's screen.
3-1 Players shall dismiss all pop-ups (when allowed to) at the beginning of their turn until the 'production phase' is complete.

If ricketyclik and Aqualung71 crawl out of bed and acknowledge this thread soon, I'll send ric the turn forthwith. :-)

              Ok, almost awake now.

Quick question to you guys - I've seen all of you around the PBEM threads, Paddy and Masuro seem to play quite a few PBEM games. I've only just started PBEM, so a lot of the "exploits" we've been discussing are pretty new to me. Do you find that there's a tendency to form early alliances with someone you already know and have played games with before, or are there efforts to remain impartial and play the game as it develops?

And what are your views on the etiquette guidelines Rommel has proposed....it all looks pretty agreeable to me - any differing views?

Actually in Singapore Paddy, but moving back to Perth over the next couple of months, which is the same time zone. You're east coast?

Personally I see each game as a new / different adventure...

And in that way, alliances and issues stay in the one game.

As an example, I am currently in a full on war with Shogun Gunner in "2nd Coalition", a very tense diplomatic situation, a very nasty war we are getting into . Yet we are in several other games together. In most we have no contact, and in another we are tech allies, helping each other to dominate the world .

Also by keeping the alliances and issues seperate, it makes for far better games.

I hope you enjoy the tournament, and the PBEM experience. There are heaps of games going at the moment, and always games starting.

As they say, you have got to be in it to win it

I think that's a great way to look at it, and I hope most others do too. I guess I just have to get used to not being able to play 150 turns in one sitting....and having fellow players with a real brain instead of a bunch of complicated algorithms with loop holes! Do you come across many people who utilise some of the exploits that have been discussed?

Yes, I've been in Asia for 9 years now and I'm looking forward to going back home. I love Sydney too. You been in oz for a while?

                          39 year so far

most of the players you find here are here for a great game, so cheating / exploiting is not needed.

There are fast games and slow games - and the difference has nothing to do with the names...

if you find the right team combination you can get several turns kicked over in the one day... you just need to be tied to your PC, love Civ, and be ready to play as soon as the save hits your in box

                            3950 to rickety...

I'll keep the first two threads updated with occasional information specific to your game.

Quick reminder- if you would like to use your restart, speak up before you send on the first turn.

If I can butt in here with a couple OT questions of my own...

What is that under the Union Jack on the Australian flag and why isn't it there for New Zealand?

Also, I read something about Hug an Aussie or somesuch day coming up. Is this some sort of US media ruse, or a convoluted way to cop a feel of some Sheilas? ;-)
