  • Combat Report: Germans vs. Spanish

Our warrior, "Der muffige Krieger", spots Spanish cultural borders and tops a mountain to see what he can see.... and sees Madrid undefended 2 tiles away.

Der muffige Krieger moves toward Madrid (into Spanish cultural borders) the next turn because Madrid is still undefended.

Meanwhile, another of our warriors, "Der arme Krieger" continues to shadow a Spanish warrior snooping around our worthless jungle domain.

The next turn, we find Madrid STILL undefended and der muffige Krieger takes the city, eliminating the short-lived Spanish civilization and cauing their exploring warrior near der arme Krieger to mysteriously disappear into thin air.

That's pretty much it - not much to tell.

With Spain out of the way, I can go back to planning the great jungle chop and the great marsh draining. I should be busy with that for... oh.... several millennia at least.

        • The more the Germans keep telling the lies of how they put the Spanish out of their misery the more you all will fall into their trap.

Truth is they monopolised on an early opportunity in a way only a dastardly sneaky human opponent would. My warrior was indeed out exploring seeking out new friends and potential trade partners, in fact we even traded peacefully with the Germans prior to their merciless killing of our leaders.

We had no reasons to fear them as they seemed peacful enough at first and I draw your attention to the fact that no declaration of war ever surfaced. We found their humble beginnings long before they found ours, but did we resort to their dastardly tactics ? NO!!! we peacefully moved away to explore in other directions

Watch your backs the germans can not be trusted!!!!!!!!

          • Vanish into thin air? Do you really think we will fall for that ruse? We insist you halt your vicious experimentation at ONCE and abide by the Geneva ... er ... oh, bother...

                • Save to snoopy.

To answer your question McM, yes, I think Arnelos did what he should have done. In another game - I am on the receiving end - and look back at what I could have done differently. It is very early in the game; I am one shield short of being able to produce a defender. I don't blame my neighbour - if I was in his shoes I would do the same thing - just as Arnelos did. I blame myself. I should have realized the geographic implications - and sacrificed a bit of growth for producing a defender sooner.

C'est la vie. C'est la guerre. C'est la civ.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

                    • Heck, if nothing else this is a really good argument for fast building a temple ... if you have the second culture square faster (and thus third) it's less likely your opp will get close to your city enough to see it's empty ...
