The strong Egyptians continued thier bullying ways after Spain's end. They landed troops on the small and weak Portugese iron resource, precipitating this first exchange

Portugese generals reportedly left the country en masse bond for sourth america, wherever that is

first entry is port attacking unit, result, egypt defending unit, hit points left attacker

    K kills K near Klatch 3hp left
    K kills MI 4
    K killed by K
    K kills K 1
    K kills Mi 4
    K kills pike 3
    K kills pike 2
    Klatch falls

Near egyptian iron colony, which was absorbed by Port settlement

    K kills pike 1
    K kills K 3
    K kills AC 4
    K kills MI 1
    K retreats from MI
    K killed by AC

Much blood lies ahead, but it shouldn't take long for Egypt to overrun Portugal with its stack of arty and strong MI.

Portugal offers peace if Egypt will now leave its lands without pillaging the iron resource

      • Well ...

I'd have to say that you were going to hang either way, so what does it matter?? ^^

        • You mean that if I'd have had a knight or two, I wouldn't have been able to stall Krill's attack long enough to fortify some musket men and counter attack with Ancient Cavalry during my goldent age...?

          • eh, i haven't a clue what the ultimate result would have been ... from my limited and short view of the game, Krill looked like he was in a sweet spot. I suppose the two of you together might have beat him -- but I suspect jshelr had much reason to side with him and not you (among others, a reasonable chance to 2nd place and not 4th) ... ^^

            • actually, predestad's civ has the most productive cities by a fairly large margin. Quite a few size 12s with good shield production and low corruption.

I think Krill decided correctly that time was on my side and that he had to attack early to avoid being overrun by cavs.

It is still an interesting game and Egypt has a few trump cards left to play. I'll be surprised if Portugal loses. But, I've been surprised before

              • Have you still played this ? Just interested to know how the game where i once participated is advancing

                • we are still playing. Krill's on vacation. Our earlier tech agreements paid huge dividends as we swept the world relatively quickly. Things are getting a bit testy between the former allies at the moment, however.

the friendly iron b Mongols built SoZ with a SGL a couple of turns after you left.

Did you mean to reference the other tournament? I built the SoZ here for Spain the hard way, but Krill took it before it produced anything but a GA. Are those AC giving Port a headache at all?

                    • they are not bad units, given the hit points, but it's too late for them to dominate. there are stacks of pikes all over the place and some muskets.

i took over for Conq in iron b.

Wow the Mongols there are really lucky bunch - Capital almost on top of Ivory, free city from a settler within first few turns, and a SGL
I wonder if theres anyone else alive anymore in that game besides the Mongols Better check that thread too

Back when i was in the game, i wondered why did you build the Pyramids before SoZ ? That was risky, since Portugal had Ivory too and could have beaten you to SoZ.

                          • Being Spain, I planned to go builder until I reached Navigation. With the original players, no one seemed too intent on combat, I figured the SoZ might encourage everyone against me. With player changes, I never got the 'feel' of the new diplomatic situations. We all agreed to nibble away at Arabia, but I realized they would crumble quickly after establishing an embassy in Adagio's capitol. Even so, I was too slow to react to Krill's continued advancement. I only built the SoZ because I had a prebuild going but nothing else was useful anymore...

Muskets? Did I end up trading invention? I didn't think you had played that many turns since I left...

                              • Yup. Lots of turns have passed although we took it out of the thread because it was just back and forth.

Next time Krill sends a knight forward:

                                Cannon to right of them,
                                Cannon to left of them,
                                Cannon in front of them
                                Volley'd and thunder'd;
