well, a majority vote would be clear... you'll decide on ganging up against me. and even if we'd adapt the rule base and etiquette from the tournament... there's nothing to stop people secretly discussion by email and PMs...

you guys just have to decide each for yourselves, if you want to go for peace and share your continent and cripple me later on, or if you want to get dominance on your side of the world to have a builders chance.

basicly, there are 2 victory possibilities: spaceship or conquest. domination is difficult on 2 continents, spaceship means peaceful living, but only someone will keep the upper hand

      not that easy

of course, i'd love to see you battling yourself to the ground, on the other hand, i'd just as much hate to have to face 1 giga-oponent!

anyway, if we vote, we should vote if we want to adapt the tournaments rule base and code of honour.

      • CM, what's a "good oportunity" to fight? massive tech lead? or seeing the oponent distracted by another war?

HP goes up every post (like the minute hand on a watch)... A is like the the hour hand... goes up by 1 whenever HP gets over 100.

the other two have something to do with averages. one being total average, the other being "logged-in"-avarage.

it caused some confusion in summer 2002 when i started here

        • CM made a good point through: you have an entire continent to yourself, and enough AIs to prebuild you're continental empire for you

so even if you can not take part in any research pacts yet, eventually you will make contact with the others, you do have your own advantages

true... but if i fight the AI, i'll have lots of land with backward infrastructure if i don't fight them, i've got less land with a stronger base

i wonder when i meet the first spanish suicide curragh/galley... the spanish are the only seafaring civ of us human players

              • Those two things could be read as a good incentive, but there are perhaps lots of good reasons to fight in civ. You need a resource that a rival has just over the border, but much closer to your heart than theres, You spot an unguarded city, which depends on the game.

Im playing as the Aztecs in one game im in and my neighbour is Celts. Well I had my Jags scouting all over the shop and was extremely lucky to pop two settlers from huts. I had five towns up and running before most had there third settler built, when my furthest scout jag spotted the celts 3rd settler and warrior combo.

It was irresistable, my lead in the game was already good and the golden age is really helping ne to develop quickly, I know its early but with the celts next door you dont want them getting Iron working and iron hooked up and being stronger than you, so I chose war.

Another nice bonus was the 2 slaves from the settler

Im still in golden age in that game and still at war, but have just got 6 Jag including 2 elites together for a push deeper into celtic lands, where Im expecting to get a favourable peace deal

                • sounds interesting!

popping 2 huts and 2 slaves, settler bopping... not bad
the celts are ugly as a neighbor and no one blames you if you sack and pillage their iron resources

but i meant my question more for later on in the game. if you chose the peaceful path... will you ever attack or is it an all-out builder game thereforth? (not counting, if the other guy starts the war himself or if the resource lies deliciously just over the border )

                  • Well I prefer to play Builder, does that answer your question.

War is okay and can be fun but I do like to out build my opponents too if I can

oh, now i see why you're going against the hittities... they've nearly got double of my points
reminds me of the portuguese in the fast PBEM... they had a big early lead in the beginning...

                      • btw, thanks to eliit for staying up exceptionally late in your time zone and playing the last turn

speaking of that (back to the same boring old question): will we some evening be able to do several turns? this would require everyone's availability and smellymummy's afternoon. is that still possible for you or must you rule this out permanently?
