Congrats Snotty. All that time playing RoN has honed your RTS skills no doubt.
As for the ISDG, I am considering it but I will have less time for Civ3 in the future and the PBEMs I'm in now should suffice.
Turns sent.
Perhaps I could be the historian.
I see Snotty has joined the C3C ISDG
With the first round game being a free-for-all, I am sure his tourny experience will be very handy
In the PTW ISDG, there are 102 members, of which, about 85 just lurk.
It will be the same with the C3C ISDG. Most who join just lurk, vote in the odd poll, and post every now and again. There is very little time needed to join.
Background info...
10 Civ sites are playing.
There will be 2 games of 5 teams.
These games are a free-for-all, until 2 teams are eliminated.
The surviving 3 teams in each game, will then play in the final PBEM. 6 teams...winner takes all.
It looks like fun. I'm not entirly sure whats going on though. There seem to be a bunch of closed polls and not a lot else. Does everyone get access to the save, and so gets to comment on what they think should be done? I've not done a DG before.
That 2 team elim thing is going to lead to ganging up and a very bloody early game. I don't know anyone from the other sites but I hope we don't have too many enemys.

Dont worry about it too much.
It take a lot of time for a group of people to agree on the game settings.
Con will sort it out.
You dont normally get the save but it can be arranged.
In the original ISDG, it is archived after it has been played.
Usually, the moves are worked out in advance. The save comes. The Consuls post a few screenshots. And then just play the save.
Its up to you how much time and effort you want to put into it.
Most just lurk.
A lot just post when major decisions are made..(ie do we declare war)
But you are welcome to join in and argue your personal strategy as much as you want.
Assuming we stick with the original ISDG constitution.
There will be 3 consuls who play the game, and have the power to make decisions for the whole team.
If they screw up, or ignore the people, then anyone can call a CoC (Change of Command) and demand they be replaced.
There will be regular elections to these posts.
The consuls will choose Ministers of War/Interior/FAM..who in turn choose their deputies.
We basically give a lot of power to the consuls and leaders...because PBEM's demand quick decisions.
But like I said...anyone can call a CoC at any time.
All of these posts will be available for any member to run for. Just post that you are interested.
I have never help an official position, and dont intend to.
But I do post a bit and argue my strategy.
"Kill them now you damned peacenik consuls"
If SirOsis wants to be the history guy...I doubt anyone would have a problem. It's not an official post, so anybody can do it, and update their own history threads.
Anyway... its a bit of fun, and you learn a LOT of strategy.
And the amount of participation is up to you.
You can check the forum only once every week, and still keep up to date.
