    S!all

Im just curious--Im playing Civ 3 1.29f and was wondering if there will be another patch. Its been a while now since the last one and I check back here every couple weeks to see if there is a new patch.

My problem is this--I dont have play the world(im of the opinion that these kind of games are unplayable MP due to the time it takes).

So to get new patches will I need to buy PTW?Is this the only thing they are patching from now on?.

Just curious since I feel that many things are not fixed properly such as group movement (especialy fleet groups).

    thanks

It is generally accepted that there will be no more Civ3 patches, just PTW patches.

PTW is NOT just for multi-player!! There have been several threads already of the benefits of PTW for single-player.

Since they have issue three patches to PTW and none for CivIII since 1.29f, I think it is safe to say it will not be patched again.
I do not play MP and found PTW to be useful.

That has pretty much been fixed in PTW. You still can't attack as a stack but you can move more than just one type of unit together at one time. Rally points for the units produced by your cities are a good addition as well.

There is a limited stack attack. If you move a stack into an adjacent enemy tile they will attack (unless this was taken out recently).

Thanks for the link 2many...but is this rumor only based on fellow forum posters in cdgroup, or is there any possible indication from someone in the "know" (ie, from Firaxis)?

And if there is a post from a Firaxian - which thread exactly?

I wonder what they could add that would warrant another expansion pack, besides new civilizations?

AAARRRRGGGHHHHH No no no!!!. Don't even mention more civs in an expansion pack. If there aren't enough Civ's already for your taste then download the Apolyton's extra pack. The Mod community does a fine job of this sort of thing.

What could they put in an expansion?

How about instead of graphics and tools for 30 Euro they address the gameplay in an imaginative way? Maybe era themed expansions such as Civ: Imperialism to make better use of the colony and resource concept and maybe sort out a desent Naval combat sytem. Or how bout Civ: Cold War that would add to the fun of the modern era and provide a decent espionage model. These are the things that are beyond the community that exists on these boards and would bring people back to the game.

Mikel some good ideas. They could also make some very very comprehensive scenarios and a much better editor and maybe scripting.
IOW they could make it worth having for the players that are interested.

If I were to make another expansion, I'd work on the tools and code for scenario creation and include some over the top scenarios.

Umm... that wouldn't work, you do realise that? This is Civ, not Capitalism +.

I was one of the people that bashed Civ3 when it came out. But since PTW and its patches, I'm in love.

                              That said:

XP2 would be a fine idea. More civs are always good (Where are my Hebrews?!?!?)

I'd like to see some minor changes (Manhattan Project as a minor wonder) and some gameplay issues resolved (AI seems to hate players and won't accept reasonable deals often enough)

Expanded diplomatic options with differing treaties. NAFTA-like economic agreements, scientific pacts, general alliances that aren't targetted, etc.

The ability to pre-target nukes (I miss that from Call to Power 2).

Combat similiar to CTP2: Support units, artillery, archers, flankers, etc. Makes combined arms vital.

If the right features are in a CIV3XP2, I'd buy it without question.
