  • 2 New Screenshots!!!!!

I found them in the PC Gameplay website. According to the article, these are only 2 of the many screenshots that appear on the current print version of PC Gameplay magazine.
    Here is the link:

Nice find Kevin!! Anyone find the full magazine?

The first shot makes the game look like SMAC with the CTP engine. Good news is it appears like the map is gonna have life to it. The mountain water appears as if it is animated. The map at the bottom shows that there will be ocean shelf too as opposed to just ocean.

The advisors appear to be in the top. The Sid guy is science. Jeff is the military. Who are the others? What's their role? What are other possible advisors, diplomacy, social, trade?

What the heck is in the second picture? Is it a rocket/space launch? Power plant? CGW said Sid was axing the cutscenes.

I DIDN'T SEE ELVIS!!!!! BRING BACK ELVIS!!!!!

Someone needs to inform whoever that needs to be informed at that site that those are NOT, in fact, the first screen shots.

      Beautiful shots by the way.

Except :shudder: don't mention CTP along with civ3 as some sort of comparison. that's just wrong. ctp sucked ass.

As to what the second shot, it LOOKS like a cutscene, maybe it's part of a cutscene? sure, CGW reported one thing, but who knows? or it might be part of the city view screen. who knows. it looks like a motion shot.

Not sure what the first part of your post meant.

I think you're right, the second screen looks like a vid shot. They always look grainy when an individual frame is shown. Looks pretty cool though.

The author of that paragraph (whatever you want to call it) said that these were the first screen shots on the web. But they're not.

            Wow! That looks pretty cool!
            Keep up the good work.
I have to say that those shots look pretty good to me.
The good things of Civ2 have been kept!

It looks to me that the player will probably be able to click on the advisors to go to each specific screen. It makes sense especially since I don't see any buttons to access the other screens like the diplo, science etc...

I hope that the advisors will therefore do a lot more than in civ2!

I like the interface style. It is very simple and unintrusive. Also, we seem to get very useful info like the time to complete a build order below the city name, and amount of gold each turn.

The 2nd screenshot looks like an aerial view of a rocket on the launch pad with a helo flying over. So, I would guess it has something to do with the space race.

The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"

Notice that they're very careful to say everywhere on the website that these are the first in-game shots. I take that to mean that they were taken during actual gameplay, rather than as carefully pre-prepared images. At least, that's how I interpreted it...

Actually, I used PhotoEditor to blow up the picture, make a negative, adjust the contrast, and analyze for hidden features.

                    Just kidding.

But I did notice that the "trickle of water" is actually a river. It flows south along the Americans' border (the blue-on-blue obscures it) and goes through Washington before emptying into the lake.

                      In lower left corner:
                      Settlers
                      Regular
                      0.0.1/1
                      Sea

Does this mean that Settlers can walk on water?
