...and could not stop laughing. I actually agree that USA should not be in the game from the start, but should come into power later (same with other late comers). Of course that would require such an extensive reworking of the game that you might as well make a new one where civilizations evolve, grow into power, and eventually lose it (as they all inevitably do). there is a solution to that , in CIV II there are some mods and scen's that make a country split in to two , ...... they could work something out in civ III and lets say that an X percentage of this or that civ splits away to make the US , the same could be done for countries like Brazil and Australia , ........

As for Australia and the Pacific Islands, there are numerous names for them. People call the area Australasia, Oceania, Pacifica, and such.

The official name of the continent is Oceania.

About the "split of countries", I really miss that. In civ2 when you invade a foreign capital the country split in two inmediately. In civ3 the option to the new nations could be others than the original civs, for example; China split in 2: China + Tibet, England split in 2: UK + Australia (or the US???), etc.

if someone might be able to sell this idea to Firaxis , .....

when asked in a chat the answer was "we shall see" , nothing further ever since , ......

it would really rock , and we should have the ability to decide what civ's are born when a country splits , howmany cities , money , units , etc , ......

nah , when civ II came out no-one thought it would be in it , ....

in the worst case scenario we have to wait until CIV IV to have it again , ....

, maybe Gramphos could find a solution , .......

there has to be a way , ..... maybe they just simple forgot it , but it could definatly be food for the next expansion patch , ....

Nice the idea of a split country like in civ2, I think that the original team of Civ should do the civ4, not new guys like firaxis.
Anyway, the thread ask for US in the game. I support the US to be a civ, but as "my president" has said call the civ "America" is wrong, it should be the entire name or just USA. It would be nice to see the US split in the Anglo States, the French States and the Mexican provinces of the north.
