God, I am an idiot sometimes.

I'm playing the Dark Side challenge in the Strat forum... I mistakenly let Persia become a killer, and went to war with Jerxes a little under-manned. I'd been depending on a captured Great Wall for walls in some forward towns, and like an IDIOT researched Metallurgy on the way to Mil Trad.

    Doh!!
The greatest delight for man is to inflict defeat on his enemies, to drive them before him, to see those dear to them with their faces bathed in tears, to bestride their horses, to crush in his arms their daughters and wives.

Don't worry about Theseus, it only hurts for a little while.

They ought to give the Great Wall a higher cultural value, as a bigger incentive to build it. I mean, people come from all over just to see the wall. And people even take pictures of aging city walls and old Roman aqueducts in the real world, so why shouldn't they have at least small cultural values in Civ3?
Whew! I'm back and ready to start writing again.
