Okay. I see that a summary of major events is doable, and so is a map showing influences and such a la Civ. In such a case I reckon using HTML would be the best way to go, since it has a limited - very limited - ability for page layouts, has hyperlinks (duh!
) for maps and stuff, and is universally available for free.
