  • question on small wonders

can small wonders be rebuilt if the first is lost?

IE, you build your forbidden palace in a city that gets captured/razed. Provided you still have enough cities, does it become a build option again once it's gone, or is there like a "has already been built" flag that allows one shot and then that's it?

along the same lines, lets say you build apollo and then lose it in a war. can you still work on the spaceship? or do you have to build it again?

    just curious

with the apollo I'm pretty sure you can still build your spaceship... but I'm not sure whether you can rebuild your small wonder.... an interesting question... I don't think I've lost a city I had a small wonder in before or else I might have been some help

Great Wonders can only be built the once but I think you can rebuild small wonders if you lose a city with one in.

Not sure about the spaceship question.

I think that if you lose the Apollo Program, you lose the spaceship.

I've read that they can, since they're automatically destroyed, but I don't have any first hand experience myself.

They can be rebuilt. I lost my FP once and was able to build it again. I'm regurarly using this possibility to "move" my FP...I abandon the FP city and rebuild it again in a better position (if you don't get a leader, use prebuilds) -but I would only do that on large maps where losing a city does ot hurt much.

I know how the palace is automatic once youve researched masonry... but wouldn't that be the only one?

I think Mazarin means having the city you want the FP to be in start building the palace (which takes a lot of shields) - or even rush building the palace in this city. Then you abandon the city with the FP and change the palace to the FP. Violá. Rush building the FP.

that's it...you build an expensive building (Palace is the best example as it usually is the most expensive one) in a city you actually don't want this building to be finished in until you have enough shields. 199 would be best in this case...then you raze the FP-city, and switch the production in the palace-building city to FP which gets finished there next turn. Saving your shields with pre-builds is also very usefull when you have not achieved a wonder-tech yet.

I've done that several times, and sometimes it doesn't work. For example, I was half way or so done building a wonder in berlin, when i finished researching whichever tech it is that allows me to build sun tzu's art of war. I could build the art of war in every city except berlin, which was the only city that was building a wonder. any thoughts on this?

no idea -that should work without problems...if you were building something else, one possibility would be that there are some shields invested in the building that come from disbanding units etc....but switching from one Wonder to another should always be possible. do you have a savegame?

no disbanded units. Sorry, no save from the time.
