I'm new here (I come from the off-topic forums) so you might have already talked about this topic.

What I want to say is that CTP 2 finaly proved to me that CIV II graphics are the best for this kind of a game. The units shouldn't be done with so much details and they shouldn't have animation. The unit are just symbols (You are not really attacking with one tank, the tank in the picture is a symbol of a division of tanks), therefore those pictures shouldn't move and be animated.
To much details and animation makes one, me at least, feel tired when playing the game.

Another thing is that the game shouldn't involve to much colour, and the colours it does involve shouldn't be to dark - like it was made in CTP 2 (this too makes me feel tired).

    Any comments?

Too dark? CTP looks all happy and cheerful compared to Civ 2. If you want dark, there's always SMAC - I always felt depressed playing that because of the dark interface, weird terrain, the music; but I got over it.

I definitely tihnk the graphics should be improved to at leas tbetter than CTP2 level. But it shouldn't come at the expense of anything else.

The point is, Civ 2 graphics were as they should be in such a game, symbolic.

I don't want to see the elephant unit to be actually a walking elephant since it isn't one. It's only supposed to be a graphical sign that I have a horde of elephants there.

CTP graphics were of very strong color instead of shades. It did create eyestrain. For example they used the 00,00,FF blue instead of the 00,00,88 blue for a civ color. That's way too bright.

Another thing is: the tiles shouldn't have too much detail and be too sharp since it's distracting.

also, the tiles and the interface should not be in bright colors but the units are.

Also, don't use a million of different colors per unit and don't worryt that you don't exactly see a unit's face.

Civ 2 worked fine without it. CTP has it and it sucks (just one reason)

Civ2 Symbolic ? Civ 2 started this whole charade with figures. Civ 1s way of view was better to me, more empire like and such. SMAC had great map ideas but to cluttery and ugly. And bad interface as well (to terraform there was either tons of keys or 3 or four mouseclicks)
