  • Can't upgrade 'popped' warriors?

Haven't played CivIII for awhile so it may be that I've forgotten this but I'm unable to upgrade warriors received after popping a GH. And yes - they're in a city with a barracks.

Yes but you do not say that you have iron in the resource box. One of those two things must be missing or you do not have the money.

I had both Iron and money. Hmmm.

Problem was that the msg said "No units available to upgrade." But there were 2 warrior units in the city and active.

          'tis a puzzlement.

You might be unable to upgrade them becase they're conscripts. Not sure though, never tried upgrading conscript units.

I have had lost of conscripts and upgraded them, at least I thought I did. Maybe the had become regulars before I upgrade? Try to get them some babs to fight and see if they will upgrade after a promotion?

Maybe that's the problem - were too fresh 'out-of-the-box' as it were.

This is more cromagnon level than a conscript issue.

The warriors must have movement points left in the current turn in order to be recognized as upgradable. In the next turn they will be available to upgrade.

                    Actually Cracker, I don;t think that's right.

If, for instance, you move a Warrior into a town with barracks, and thus use up all of its movement points, you can still upgrade it by selecting a Warrior in any town that CAN still move, hit shift-u, and all Warriors in towns with barracks (including the one without move points) will upgrade, presupposing you have Iron and enough gold.

Still don't know the answer to Elowan's problem... can you post a SAV?

I do not trust my memory that is for sure, but I am sure I have not been able to upgrade units that were without movement points. Post a save and we can mess around and see.

Personally, I'm 100% sure you can upgrade units with 0 movement points with the shift-u trick, but that's the only way.

Yes that seem to work, a group upgrade has a whole in it as it should not upgrade units with no movement left.

The shift-U is a work around but I doubt if ELowan was on that track.

Just as the using the city display screen acessed by the back=fore arrows to upgrade units and still preserve movement capability for the turn is a workaround. But again I am sure that was not what Elowan was talking about.
