Bug/Problem - can anyone help?

Hello folks, only recently downloaded 1.29f as i lost my net connectiion for 6 months, edited the game and started playing.
I encounter a frustrating bug, when i go to change the production in Sheffield (Anceint era) the game just beeps, so i open the city, go to the change production tab there and the game crashes!
the wierd thing is , when it crashes it goes on about some bug in sound module!?!??!

This happens every time i load up this game...
Is it a me having screwed up with the editor, or is it 1.29!?

Any help much appreciated.

I have been following the buzz here for months and AFAIK no such problem has been reported for 1.29f. Considering your description, I would check the sound drivers... do you have the latest version of them installed? Many times, simply uninstalling Civ3, manually deleting any remnants of its directory, performing a clean install, and applying the patch helps...

The (minor)problems I had with patch 1.29f all disappeared when I updated my video driver.
