  • CIV Has A Bermuda Triangle???

    Ok a little story first.

At war with Russians see three Batleships (and a few support craft) escorting what looks like two transports.

Have some assets in the area but not enough to take on 3 Battleships and a few destroyers.

So i use an ICBM to reduce the HP's on the force so i can whittle it down.

The russians have CIV 3's version of SDI the laser zaps my ICBM and and two of my tac nukes, weird thing is two of my subs and a battleship have dissappeaed??. They were outside the blast radius... and they still show up in my list of units.... there are lit squares in the FOW where my units used to be... and i can click on the square and activate the unit...but its invisible!!.

Next turn all units reappear...this must be a display bug,...anybody seen it before.

    Patch 1.29, Domination/Conquest Game, Yr 1993, Regent.

Haven't seen this before. But people will ask a sav file from you, so I'll ask it for them:

    Post a sav file.

I've seen something like that before, in another threads, this kind of problems related after ICBM launchs.
It's appear that firaxis have fixed the problem in the last patches, but maybe they have forgot something concerning units display, like this problem you are talking about.
Anyway, at least the units appear again in the next turn, so it's not a big deal.
Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so.

I haven't launched a nuke since 1.29 came out, thanks for the warning.

I don't know about CIV 3 but I can swear MSFS2002 has a bermuda triangle. Want to hear weird? Well I was flying a Boeing 737 from Myrtle Beach, SC to Bermuda. When I got there the island showed on my maps and GPS but it was not there! I swear I did not see it anywhere, I was tuned into the tower and could hear them but there was open blue ocean and no island to be seen. Yet my GPS showed me I was directly over the island! Would you know I turned back around and when I did there the island was, clear as day. I seen the airport and landed, simple as that. Some weird stuff for sure. I don't ever remember microsoft purposely adding in any strange things around bermuda in any of their simulators. It may be a bug and I know it was not purposely done. I will make another flight out there soon and see if I experience any more things. I guess I need to bring this incident to a flight sim forum.

I had this exact problem with subs and tac nukes in the latest mac version. They reappear next turn though.

I've seen that several times, seems to happen to units directly adjacent to the blast radius. ...I guess they get lost in the smoke and their GPS goes out for a while.

This problem also seems to be correlated to the mech infantry gone mad syndrome. MIGMS seems to usually occur within a few turns of a nuke detonation. Firaxis is aware...

I believe it is something like "Mechanized Infantry Gone Mad Syndrome". Refers to your MI units turning against your other units. Reported to happen rarely under rather extreme conditions... (never experienced that myself).

That is horrible. I had about 20 workers on auto lost to MIGMS.

Wow. Never seen it. Sounds brutal. You mean you lose active control of those particular units?? Than have to slam them? Sure would like a save file with that...

                          Invisibility

I created a unit with invisibility flag on, send it to enemy territory and fortified. Apparently the enemy workers tried to go to the square my unit was on, and tried to attack it. These battles even took some time, like the worker was actually losing it's "HP". Of course they lost, having no attack power. It was wierd, seeing them attacking me with showels, with the showeling sound and all.
