  • Civ-3 is installed and you about to doubleclick that shortcut...

I was just wondering. What do *you* expect to see after you doubleclicked that Civ-3 shortcut, about 18 months from now?
Write down your wishlist, but dont include any lengthy explanations - just give us a comprised list of bullet-style 1-3 line ideas. What do you expect?

Dont dream - be realistic. Look at it from Firaxis point of view, with their history of SMAC. What do you think can evolve from that experience. Write your own selection of ideas, conceps and features that would make you feel really warm and gooey inside about halfway through the game?

    First of all
    quote:

    about 18 months from now
    is probably too optomistic.

When I install the thing, I'll probably find that there'll be a cool cut scene giving a brief overview of the history of the world.

As for in game experiences, I'm expecting:
*Not much interface change at all (ie still have tiles)
*civs to be differentiated (like factions in SMAC) by each civ having special attributes.
*Not many units/techs changes except for some more new techs - and the ability to play a bit further intot he future.
*Better graphx, looks quite realistic, but still done using a 2d engine
    *No spy/trade units
*Probably the AI won't be open source , but it'll be largely tweakable.

(It's this sort of thread that makes me get really annoyed at the lack of info about civ3)

        1. The ability to play with more than 7 civs at a time (14 civs at least).

        2. A 4096 colors palette (don't know if SMAC already has this).

        3. A nice layout, with no weird graphics (just something in the Civ2 mode, but better).

        4. An easy tool for scenario designing, including lots of possible events.

        5. And the rest of things that have been said on this forum a lot of times before: stackable units, better AI, better diplomacy... you all know.

Merge the City View with City Management Screen.

Some combat graphics that don't suck. NOT the same thing each time and something relevant to the units in combat. Some application of tactics here would be nice.

I like the idea stated before about more civs in action in a game. Maybe more than 14?

Better diplomancy, with more options and smarter AI (I guess that really goes without saying)

If we get the same iteration improvement from Civ I to Civ II, then I will be content. That would most likely represent dropping less useful units/science advances, adding more science advances, adding more specific unit types, fine tuning unit power/capability.
          Haven't been here for ages....

I tell you what I DON'T wanna see: bugs.
Better wait 24 months, but release a bug free game!

              I want to see:

              1. A short intro, a very short one, almost none.

              2. A continue button. (Start at last autosave game)

I want to get into the game quick!

I would like to see a game evolved from CIV 2 and SMAC with enough change to gain its personality and bring revolution into TBS market.

I would like to feel the history behind it: the real history of mankind or a fictional one.
We need bits of text info, game related intro and cut scene (not to show fancy graphics, but to involve more into the plot), replay feature to call back our memory on old games (I'm getting old, you see, bad memory is a problem ).

Cut scene and intro must use game engine to help mod and scenario builders to use them, without needs of added programming and 3D Studio like packages.

I hope Firaxis will have the force to try this achievement: anything less will die on the shelves and will sink TBS genre at all.

Where is the earth map in Civ 2: Call to Power?

Where are the options of choosing your opponents?

What do I want? THAT is what I want!

When do I want it? Realistically? In a couple of years from now...
