  • Jewel Case Insert

    Quick question...

Did the original NON-LE Civ 3 package include a jewel case insert for the top of the case? Mine doesn't have one at the moment and now I can't remember if there was one to begin with and I've lost it? I noticed the insert on the bottom of the case and it struck me as odd - wait, this is infogreed after all - that an insert wouldn't be included for the top of the case. Thanks!

    No, it didn't.

      Figures...

Thanks for the heads-up, now I can stop searching all over... Why would infogrames go to the trouble to put a bottom insert in the jewel case but not a top one... Can the extra .03¢ it would have cost Infogreed to include the top insert have amounted to that much?

.03 cents is a guestimate but can it be much more??

      @ 1 million copies, .03¢ = $30,000
      Std. Ed. Retail ($49.95) = $49,950,000
      Percentage of cost = .0006%

I suppose if Civ 3 sells a million copies that extra $30,000 would have shorted Bruno Bonnell a little extra pocket change...

People actually look at the jewel case? My Civ3 CD has been in the lower drive for so long I don't even know where the jewel case is!

Actually, percentage of COST should be based on something more like $10.00 each. Inforgrames cost is not 49.95, that is the retail PRICE. Still, it would have been a minor cost to put one in.

              Stonewall,

You are absolutely right. Infogrames wouldn't collect the full $49.95 from each purchase. $10.00 struck me as kinda low at first thought but now I think you may be closer to the mark. I checked Chips n Bits and Amazon and Civ 3 is still selling just below the $40.00 mark but eventually you will probably be able to pick it up for about $30.00.

On that note, I went looking for sales numbers on Civ 3. A fairly general search on Google didn't turn anything up but it seems there must be someplace on the net that shows number of unuts sold for games. Anyone know how many copies of Civ 3 has sold so far??
