  • Patch problem

I've had my Civ3 game installed since I got Civ3 when it got out, which was a while back. I have not played with it since last year, so when I got back, I installed the latest patch.

Now it asks for the CD. And I can't find my CD. The case is in the rack, but no CD. A check of all my CD cases and everything else turns up empty. No CD And the game asks for my CD!!

Help PLEASE!! How can I play Civ3 with latest patch without CD? Or at least revert back to the original, not-asking-for-CD version?

Assistance in serious need!! Drat! And just as I was about to whack the Aztecs....

There are no-CD patches available but no one here is allowed to help you since it can be construed as piracy. Do a search on Yahoo! and you'll be sure to find one. Or, you can contact Infogrames and they will replace your CD (I'm sure you'll have to pay for it though).

You always needed the CD to play. The patch just made it so it did not see it when it was in fact in the drive. I have to pop out the tray and have it auto detect.

No one is allowed to help me because I might be a pirate? Good grief!! Yes, I am a guy posting as a simple player but I have a million-dollar piracy ring backing me up and paying me just to find no-CD .exes for games - NOT! However, I understand your point.

As for the patch, man, that is weird... I forgot which version I had my game last, that's what I get for assuming everything will work... man... still no CD....

Any help here would be appreciated. If no-CD .exe help would not be allowed here, then maybe I can tinker with the patched files somehow, maybe add a tag on the .exe line or something?

        Thank you

You have been given as much help as you really need. Any more will get someone banned.

The game never ran without the CD. Not even at the beginning.

Perhaps you bought a new CD drive and left the Civ CD in the old drive when you removed it.
