  • Radiation Poisoning

I think nukes are too ***** as is. They should have a much worse effect, to both the enemy and the environment. They shouldnt cause normal pollution, but Radiation Poisoning. Like the normal graphic, with a green palette or something.

    1. It counts twice, or thrice as much as normal pollution in Global Warming rolls.

    2. When units enter a "hot" square, they die.

    3. It cannot be cleaned up by workers, cos the workers die too

    4. After like 10 years or something, it is normalized and turns into standard pollution.

    5. A city should lose some of its population every [amount] of turns if one of the squares inside its borders is radioactive.

    6. There should also be some kind of Rad-Shielded units that can pass through radioactivity unharmed. And neutronium bombs, which cost more than standard nukes, but have the added pro/con of no radioactivity, just standard pollution.

    7. What do y'all think.

nah, it should be possible to clean it up. it's not like the tile turns into plains of steeming lava after a good nuking.

It has been discussed and mentioned before as one of the best ideas orientated towards improving Nukes, which really need major improvements. Radiation generally shouldn't kill units at once, but could have deducting some health. Radioctive cities lose population, yeah, all of that... however, strong nukes, like they should be, also need a counter, so that you wouldn't want to use them always. For instance, it would be wise to make it so that your allies go mad on you for using nukes - as it is, allied civs are happy if you nuke a mutual foe.

I think, after you nuke a country and conquer them, it shoul be possible to take the radioactive glass out of their land and make pallace walls out of it

Nuetron bombs have just as much radiation as other types of H-bombs. The radiation is actually designed to penetrate further through barriers (like shielding on a tank). Scientific American actually had some very inforamtive articles on nuclear weapons a few years ago.

The nuetron bomb as a clean nuclear weapon is just a myth.

I did like your other suggestions.

Edit remove link to Scientific American, they didn't have the articles I was thinking about online.

For a while nukes had the odd side affect of making your units attack each other, but this bug was fixed.
