  • And how about this one??

Say you're the ruler of a democracy and the Senate won't let you go to war...what if you could cause a revolution, say where you have cities on another continent, and you become the ruler of this new nation (losing control of your previous nation, of course). Perhaps you could have the ability to rename your society, set up a completely independent nation...is that worth exploring at all?

I think that this is a new idea... Interesting.

This could lead to all kinds of ideas of causing revolutions in other nations and taking over there forgetting about your present civ. But personally I don't want to split the empire that I have spent so long to build, nurture, and work on.

tniem, may be the situation is out of control into your actual Civ and you strongly need a fresh start

"We are reducing all the complexity of billions of people over 6000 years into a Civ box. Let me say: That's not only a PkZip effort....it's a real 'picture to Jpeg heavy loss in translation' kind of thing."

You don't need to lose half your empire to do that. Just go and click the revolution button.

            Maybe you are right

But I don't think you need to start a new empire in order to get your way. Just have a revolution.

And by the way my civ normally isn't out of control.

I think it might be interesting though,if everytime you had a revolution, there would be a percentage chance that a part of your empire, lets say for example,3 cities on another island, decided not to go in the direction you chose and these 3 cities form their own nation independent of you. This new nation would retain all advances that they had been a part of and would be a force to be reckoned with in their own right;especially if they had room to expand(like the U.S.revolting against England). This might make players think twice about switching governments all the time.
This would also be a way for new empires to "emerge" onto the world stage even though they were not there at the beginning of time.
Maybe spies could be used in this manner as well.Instead of the nation causing the revolt getting control of the city, the spy(s)would attempt to cause unrest in the region in the hopes of causing the area(a group of cities) to revolt and declare independence
