This is a little idea for all of us scenario writers.
We need a better way to put irrigation and roads, etc. over a 75 x 120 map one square at a time.
How about making a program much like a combination of the W2 campaign editor and the Civ2 map editor.
Draw the map and lay the units, cities and improvements at the same time.
Have a brush for everything.
Terrain (Map) Brushes:
Have all the terrain brushes as in the C2
map editor. (ever finish a scenario and then realize you forgot something on the map)
Special terrain brushes:
Irrigation, Farmland, Roads, all three at once. Mining, Airbases, etc.
Units brush:
When you click on this brush a dropdown box of all units pops up so you can choose which one you want to place.
Cities brush:
Click on this and you place the city and automatically set it population and improvements all at once.
Import Map/Export Map:
You should be able to import a saved map or export the one you just drew into a file.
Governments Editor:
Create custom governments.
Rules Editor:
Edit the rules from ground up.
This program should also include all other features currently available with the built-in scenario editor for civ2.
Like in the W2 editor it should have a real easy-to-use interface.
I also think a better graphic editor is needed.
Maybe i'm picky, but hell, I love writing scenarios.
P.S. If CTP had something like this I think it would have sold more than SMAC and Civ2 combined. It's not just replayability anymore it's the flexibility of the game to let us use our imaginations to create our own worlds that makes it a hit.
Rock on amigos...
If anybody has anything else to add to this list it would be greatly appreciated.
