  • Accelerated production?

So... has anyone figured out what exactly this setting does?

I have tried two games, one with it on and one with it off, and haven't noticed any big differences. Although, I only played through to the first era change...

It appears to cut tech costs, food costs, and production costs in half... which is exactly the kind of option I'd want for MP. Quicker starting games are an important option for MP games. Nice one

      Ah. I see now.

I had pretty much duplicated the effect in my old civ3mod.bic and hadn't played with the 'standard' rules in quite a while.

When I played post-patch with accelerated production on, it just seemed normal to me!

You're quite right though Dr. Fell, this is an important option for MP games. Otherwise you would see a lot of modified bic files being distributed before every MP game. Of course we will still probably do so as more exploits are uncovered... but still, this option should prove helpful.

Problem with modified game rules is that a lot of new players might have problems adjusting to them, really for MP you need a good solid rules standard, otherwise it's just too difficult to get games. Mods might be used for scenario games etc but the vast majority of people will likely use the standard rules settings, which is why it's important that these settings are useable 'out of the box' as it were, or via a patch.

Hmm, on a different note I wonder if the accelerated production option affects the AIs?

Oh yeah, it does! They build up like crazy with it.
