  • My Game Dies!

I would have put this in the help forum, but I rarely get a response there, and this is annoying me so much I want it fixed now.

Basically, I'm playing a mod/map of mine that I've been tweaking for a while (AME v1.5), and finally have things (relatively) the way I want them. However, after about 6 or so turns, the game completely freezes. The cursor gives me the spinning hourglass, but nothing works. Ctrl Alt Del does nothing. I have to restart in order to get out of it. I would post a screenshot, except that once it freezes, there's nothing I can do. I'd post a save instead, except I doubt many people willingly want to freeze their system. Anyone ran across this before? Any suggestions? One of the very few things I've changed since it was working was some stuff with tech trading... I'm not sure how that might affect things, but I thought I'd throw it in. Maybe it'll only confuse people more.

    Post the mod.

Can you, in addition to posting the mod, go to an earlier version of the mod before it started doing this, and figure out all the changes you made, then implement the changes again one by one to figure out where the freeze developed?

That's probably what I'll end up doing, but I wanted to see if anyone had run across the problem yet.

It happent too me too in the last game I played. Never did happen to me before, but then I made some changes to a unit, and my screen froze too.

Try clicking on the menu button (upper-leftmost button) if the menu screen comes up, save your game. Then click on the New Game button and reload. My game did something similar when I had a bunch of automated units that were modded. The solution doesn’t fix the problem but it gets you going with a minimum of time. It once did this three times in a turn, but then it didn’t do it again for about 20. The game I’m playing now, the units are the same and it’s only done it once in 1500 years. Go figure…
