This is a thread for tech ideas in the post modern age, advanced stuff. I have some ideas but I want to see what other people think of first.

If you're wondering why I'm not posting at CivFanatics, I received a 3 day ban on September 10th.

Since you want "postmodern" techs, how about "deconstruction"? Proposed effect: rival civs produce less culture...

How about the civ that discovers and embraces "deconstructionism" produces less culture and increases unhappiness among its citizens?

              Globalized Economy.
Instant Combat Insertion, leads to massive improvements in Paratrooping.
Un-Manned Transportation, leads to Drone Warfare.
Cybernetic Fascism, leads to End of Human Dependence.
              Neo-Liberalism.
Human Engineering, leads to Clone Warfare, and civilian clone usage.
              Robotic Industrialization.

I'm sure I can think of more later, and expand on the others.
You have offically reached the bottom of my post.

Here is a link to a news site on Eight technologies that will change the world:

                http://www.business2.com/articles/ma...,40435,FF.html

                They are:

Biointeractive materials - 'The computer you wear'
Biofuel - 'Fossil fuels go vegan'
Bionics - 'Upgrade to a better body'
Cognitronics - Better links between brain and machine
Genotyping - unlocking the human genome
Combinatorial Science - 'Brute force R&D'
Molecular manufacturing - 'Any object on demand'
                Quantum Neucleonics - 'Port-a-Nukes'
The true nature of a man is shown by what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

how about renewable fuels. if built/discovered your civ can build and run your tanks out of hemp and no longer need to chase oil all around the map. and it would give any civ lasting that long a way of competing without oil.

Yes, that would even be better!

I'd be more concerned about getting the game to be compelling to play in the Modern age rather than focusing on Future techs...
Yes, let's be optimistic until we have reason to be otherwise...No, let's be pessimistic until we are forced to do otherwise...Maybe, let's be balanced until we are convinced to do otherwise. -- DrSpike, Skanky Burns, Shogun Gunner

making the modern age more interesting isn't that difficult. I lowered the cost of the Manhattten Project and ICBMs, added 3 new kinds of cruise missile and added more late-game land and sea units.

There's not only a lack of units in the modern age, but also a lack of city improvements, IMO.
Also, diplomatic and space race victory (if enabled) come too early in that era, so that the discovery of some of the modern age techs hardly ever occurs.

Earlyer militery lasers - Las tanks - Great advance on all infantry and modern armor
Reflective armor - Heavy las tanks - Las tanks with anti laser armor
Advanced lasers - Advanced Las tanks, Laser infantry

Megnetic propultion - Railguns - cant think of somthing for that!
Atomic manipulation - Mass Drivers (Advanced railgun) - Air intakes change Oxygen into other substances, such as lead and explosives for bullets, so aircraft are lighter and can travel further
Advanced Atomic manipulation - Oxygen turned into fuel, but engins cant yet fly forever because of unknown atoms in the fuel!
                              Help negate the vegiterian movement!
For every animal you don't eat! I'm gunna eat three!!
