  • Best nicknames for opposing civs

In wartime, soldiers tend to make up humiliating nicknames for the enemy, like Gooks (North Vietnam), Krauts (Germany), Ivans (Russia), Tommies (England), Yankies (USA) or Sammies (Somalia).

I normally use these nicks to add more flavour and spice to my stories and game progress reports on Apolyton. Those of the above mentioned nations that occur in CIV3 are well-known and quite obvious, but please help me to find good nicks for the others. I have some suggestions but not for all:

    Zulu - Kaffers
    China - Chinks
    Egyptians - Nubis
    Japan - Japs
France - Frogs (from frog eaters)
    India - Curries

And please don't mistake this for rasism. In the game, you hate them with all of your heart and want to humiliate them as much as possible, but real life is a completely different story.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

someone do something about this spammer.

Olaf - chinks and japs aren't exactly politcally correct terms are they?. In fact, some would find them offensive.

None of the nicks are politically correct. Thats the whole point of using them. Despite this, the nicks I used as example in the beginning have been commonly used by soldiers in both historic and very recent wars. If you read a book or watch a movie about these wars, you will find these "bad words" all over the place, but you don't ban the book or movie just because of that. If they can be used in books and movies with nobody complaining, why not in CIV3?

When you play CIV3 you hate your opponents and call them these bad things. But thats only in the game, not in real life. People who get offended by such vocabulary don't understand the distinction. If you read a game story, these nicks will help you to better understand the atmosphere of the game, which is exactly the same function these nicks have in books and movies.

I find your comments kinda ridicoulus. In the game you can threaten them, you can kill or enslave their civilians, you can raze their cities, you can pillage their farmland, you can even nuke them to stonehenge. But if you call them bad words, you get banned from the forum.

I myself am totaly anti-PC, but I do have my limits. If we goto war with china, then we can call them whatever the hell we want. Until then, they are chinese.
