  • Civil Unrest - why?

My capital with population of 7 is in Civil Unrest with 5 Happy Citizens, 1 Content Citizen, and 1 Unhappy citizen. The rules state that I need as many unhappy as happy citizens to go into unrest...what's up?

Errr... are you SURE it's 5 happy, 1 content, 1 unhappy? Because if it is, then something weird is going on.

Could it be 5 content, 1 unhappy, 1 specialist?

I'm at work, so I can't download your save and check it out.

I just went in again to check and make sure and yes...the city has 7 citizens - 5 happy 1 content and 1 unhappy and the city is on fire. I also have another smaller city that is in the same situation.

I just bought the game... maybe there is a bug in my programming? Although I did download the patch from the CIV3 site.

Maybe they just don't like the city name ..?

It could be that you just have to wait a turn. If your city is in civil disorder and you buy/discover some luxury or build a wonder that makes people happy, the changes will take place in the next turn, not the current one.

Both of my cities that are in Civil Unrest have been in their current state for several turns and I can't seem to fix it by changing the luxury rate or making the workers into entertainers.

Did you government collapse into anarchy due to war weariness?

You can all stop replying to this posting. Lucilla was right.....I just needed to give the game some time to get out of the unrest after I made the changes.

Thank you all for your help.

I feel like such an idiot ! I've played Civ 1 & 2 and I should have known such a simple solution.

Thank you Arrian and Lucilla for taking the time to help out a total stranger. Your kindness and generosity are really appreciated !

                          Damn!
                          I wanted to help.
Oh well, I couldn't of helped even if I was here early enough. I've had that problem before and didn't know why. I guess it just takes time for your cities to pull out of CD sometimes.
