Good job, UN is always my plan B when I start facing total defeat.

I have dominated totally on Regent, but I have never played those games to conclusion because there was no fun in it anymore. Right now I am playing my first Monarch game, It's going very well.

Monarch, it was the only game I was actually able to finish. Played on a Tiny map, as the Germans, with all the other Civs turning out to be Europeans on the same continent as me, and I conquered them all before the Middle Ages. I only actually built 3 cities, the rest were conquered.

I can only complete the game up to monarch level. I think this is down to my style of play as on emperor you can never have many cities unless you conquor other cities nearby, and when i play civ i avoid war as much as possible. I wonder if its possible to complete civ on diety just being a builder and not resorting to early war?

I play on Regent level and win 90% of the time. I'm contemplating moving up to Monarch. I'm leary about going into AI cheat infested waters though. I've read threads in here about Emperor and Diety and I'm not interested. Too much perfection required. I don't want to pack my cities.

Never tried above Monarch. I am improving my skills.

Emperor makes for a good challenge without overdoing it. I'm not to fond going for deity either, but i wil try it one of these days.

I've played and won on Cheiftan. I've been spending my current games on Warlord. Tonight I will be moving on to Regent. I will say that early on in my gaming I went to Monarch and got my azz handed to me. I will be back soon enough.

There are different degrees to 'winning' on a level. When I say I won on a level it means Huge World, Max Civs, Rampaging Barbarians. I don't feel I've 'conquered' Diety for example if I played it on a small world, with 3 civs, no barbarians. If that was all that was required, I could probably easily win on "Ulta Diety" .

I routinely win about every full level Emperor game I play, but I only won on Diety that way once. Maybe that should be what Ultra Diety means: winning against max civs on huge world with rampaging barbs.

I decided not to spend too much time on Regent b/c no matter how you improve your Mad Skillz you will lose at the higher levels.

Playing the game as is(no mod) the AI will just over-produced, outplay the human player. To anyone who beat the game on Deity...my hats off to you. I tried deity just so I can make some comparison. No surprise here, I got my ass whoped royally. I strugled to win @ monarch level, it's not as fun as playing Regent but it's still fun to get slaped by the AI every once in while

I'll play a few more games at Regent, and then try Monarch. That'll probably be as high as I go. I may try Emperor once or twice.

I like to get those starts anyway.

Me too! So, if you would please change my vote from regent to monarch, I'd be much obliged. Monarch = 19 votes.
