Never more than one, too. And the games with a free settler were my most successfull ones."As far as general advice on mod-making: Go slow as far as adding new things to the game until you have the basic game all smoothed out ... Make sure the things you change are really imbalances and not just something that doesn't fit with your particular style of play." - WesW

I got 2 in a row, playing as the Romans. I guess I was lucky. The first one I got was when I started the game, a goody hut was right next to were I started. So I had one heck of a head start. The other came a little later (about 12 turns I think).Last edited by Thrawn05; June 22, 2002, 21:22.I drink to one other, and may that other be he, to drink to another, and may that other be me!

Ive gotten 2 several times, but i dont recall ever getting more then that. They are always a big help, especially early on in the game. Definately the best treats in the goody huts, alot better than those stupid deserted ones....

I got 2 once or twice, one a few times. Never more than two, usually none. One free settler early on can make all the difference.

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

I ran a few little tests once to see how often you can get a free settler. I kept reloading and walking my unit into the goody hut. I found that getting a settler seemed to be about a 1 in 10 chance. But I kept doing the experiment with the next hut. The chances of getting a second settler seem to go DRAMATICALLY down after you get a first one. And a 3rd one seemed almost impossible, but I eventually was able to get one. But there was no doubt that you were much more likely to get barbarians and less likely to get settlers after each succesive freebie. I didn't try this with an expansionist civ, just a regular one so results may vary for them.
As for Thrawn... give me a break you didn't get 7 settlers in one game.
