and no, I don't think that paying for the native's upkeep sucks, since they are units, and they are actually doing more work than the garrisons ever do. don't they deserve pay for their hard work?

See, I always thought that the reason for the support costs was to make you think twice about having a huge army, not thinking twice about improving the terain.Last edited by zulu9812; May 12, 2002, 08:44.Up the Irons!

If shields spent to build the unit represent equipping it (like giving it weapons and stuff), and if gold upkeep costs represent feeding and maintaining it ... then it makes sense to me that an entire unit of population costs as much to feed and maintain as a relatively small unit of troops. Maybe they should even cost more.
Just how I see it though.Good = Love, Love = Good

I actually think that the building cost for workers are a little bit to low. 20 or maybe even 30 shields might be more accurate. And no, I defenitly don´t think it´s bad to pay for workers, without them your empire wouldn´t be much worth. It takes just a few turns to build a road, and with the commerce from that road you pay the upkeep for your workers really fast.

i can see how to give a population cost in units, but not making it exempt from support costs. Is it a unit ability (the 'unused' flag perhaps)?Up the Irons!
