  • Am I the only one who misses the ToT Multi Maps?

I wish that Civ3 could be played on multiple maps simultaneously like in Test of Time. There you could play on four levels, like outer space, and underground, and under the ocean. Granted, it wasn't properly implemented in ToT- certain units could explore all four maps at a time, no movement points exhausted moving from one to another, but I thought it was cool that if you ran out of room on one plane, you could try to grab more later on in the game. And it was interesting that certain civs were based on the different planes, which added interesting twists.

Does anyone else wish this was in Civ3?

I think that ToT was a true successor to CivII (as opposed to CtP) by way of being produced by Hasbro, which purchased Microprose, IIRC, and in turn was purchased by Infogrames, so I wouldn't think there would be any problems with using the ideas from it.

Yeah, I love the multi-map thing for ToT. Used to play the sci-fi version just because of that. Ruling 3 worlds and Orbit was always fun.

Amen. Those maps are deeply missed.

I hold the hope that an XP for Civ III will allow for multiple maps.

So they should make an option to turn multi-map on/off then.

            Yes

            Multi-Maps - Yes !

I miss my Submarines with the ability to truly hide at the bottom of the ocean, and my underground cities that could withstand nuclear attack !

            (See also http://www.users.bigpond.com/kestrel...htm#Millennium )

"Hide your Submarines in the deep ocean with their cargo of deadly missiles
and only rise to the surface to wreak havoc on the enemy !

Tunnel under Enemy fortifications to undermine their defensive perimeter
or tunnel under the continental shelf to link up islands and move troops
from island to island without the need for a navy !

Build underground cities in Tunnels under the Earth's surface !

Soar over that ring of defensive pikemen or airnbases in your Stratospheric
aircraft or wreak havoc from the stratosphere with your Nuclear Missiles !"

Maybe allowing you to build citys in the ocean on Earth when you get high enough tech, but maybe not. I think the ideal multi-map for Civ3 would be a moon one, colonizing that would be much more difficult but depending apon things could pay off through resources. Would also make things much more fun.

I'll bump my own poll, even though I am likely the only one care.
