      Using the editor

I have never actually used the editor, but I cannot say that I am against it. My wife plays civ3 as much if not more than I do, though, and I don't want to have to explain all the changes I've made. She seems to like the game fine, so for now I have left well enough alone, installing only the patches released by Firaxis.

But, I'll probably perform a second install so I can muck with my very own copy and leave hers alone

Without the editor, I would have quit playing in mid Feb. I don't enjoy the game at all with default rules, but 1.21 is better than any of the previous versions. I don't make as many editor changes. I just wish I had an easy record of changes. Every time I patch, I forget one or two settings, and it takes a few games to get all my settings right.

              Am I becoming jealous here?

I'm living together with my truely magnificent and lovely girlfriend and I love her .

              But she's got two shortcomings:
              1) she hates football (soccer), while I love Belgium and Anderlecht
              2) she never plays games and she doesn't feel motivated to learn them

She lets me play as long as I wish though

I need the editor. Not to make it easier but to make it better to play at.

Such as, rescources don't appear or depleat, certain units get lethal bombard. I changed some of preferences to governments in some of the civs. Little things like that.

The editor allows you to activate another path which is actually just a bonus : culture !
There is building for military, building for science, but there is not a single building "culture-only".
Making purely-culture building would create a whole different way in the game.
Science without conscience is the doom of the soul.

Always, otherwise the game would suck.

I didn't even know it had an editor until I joined Apolyton.

Did you get a manual when you bought the game? Or did you not wonder what the second icon was in your folder or desktop?

Well....I suppose if I had time(two jobs) to read the manual, or if my puter wasn't so smart that it loads up the game when I put the disc in....I may have known.

my guess is most people don't. something alot of
people here tend to to forget.
