  • Civ3 Democratic Game

i love the idea of a democratic civ game, but to be quite honest, i just can't go back to civ2 after playing civ3. civ3 may have a few downsides, but it adds so much.

so who's up for a democratic game of civ3?

I'm sorry, i am sure i've read what a democratic game is somewhere, but for the life of me, i can't remember exactly what it is. Could you remind me plz?

it's where you have 1 civ controled by massive amounts of people

check out apolyton's civ2 democratic game here:

and due to the lack of multiplayer [restraining profanity] i believe this would tide me over

          Count Me In

I'd be glad to join in a Civ3 Democracy game.

Yeah. I'd participate in a limited fashion.

BTW. What happened to you? When I first found Poly you seemed to be a bit of a character. Then, pfff, you were gone.

Do I remember correctly that you found some way around some rule or ban and received a heavy proscription?

OK. I vote for you not to be banned again. Yet.

Well, he thought since he got Civ3 a few days earlier than the rest of us he would never need to visist Apolyton again....only if he knew what would lay ahead. And yes I hope they do give you your avatar back just so we don't have to read 500 miserable posts by you, so you can get your avatar back.

Actually I could care less, and I was just joking.
However, it is difficult to believe that 2 times 2 does not equal 4; does that make it true? On the other hand, is it really so difficult simply to accept everything that one has been brought up on and that has gradually struck deep roots – what is considered truth in the circle of moreover, really comforts and elevates man? Is that more difficult than to strike new paths, fighting the habitual, experiencing the insecurity of independence and the frequent wavering of one’s feelings and even one’s conscience, proceeding often without any consolation, but ever with the eternal goal of the true, the beautiful, and the good? - F.N.

I would join it too, but... isn't it too early for this? Such a game lasts many months, and there surely will be more patches and compatibility and homogenity of game options will be an issue. While I would like a Civ3 democracy game, I think we should wait a couple of months with it.

So... whats the odds of bringing this to fruition? id love a role as something like... ohh, say Foreign Minister (or Ambasador if ya prefer). Or, perhaps Minister of Bananas?

btw... i haven't read enough to know if it exists properly... but if we do make this Democratic game come to life, and get a nice boatload of people... and a nice sized empire by some point in the game... what about dividing it into provinces or states, for different groups to decide on what to build and what to work on (with slaves/workers)... and possibly, if we get even more people... a mayor for each and every city? Man, that would be awesome, if we could form a full government, of national leaders, state leaders, and city leaders? wow!

perhaps. there doesnt seem to be much of a group of people here willing to do it anyway.

                            we shall wait.

I'd vote to sway the game and vent to sway the masses.

The CivII democracy game has been going well, but we are still learning. It's fun, even when things are in disarray.
