Just because somebody doesn't agree with you doesn't make them an idiot... or stupid... or a fan boy... or a whiner...
Oh... and by the way, I wouldn't recommend ANYBODY get into a flame war in this thread. Because if you do... you are toast!Keep on Civin'

And its great how the AI players actually responds to you. Civ2 was just a stupid fest. Of Computer players doing nothing and totally ignoring you. Then programmed to turn against you at later in the game. No matter how nice you were. Civ3 is different.I like CIV 3's corruption, combat system, cultural assimilation and AI.

i've played quite a lot of games that seemed very well designed and implemented, but they didn't quite have the X factor that meant i would keep coming back to it. (for this read: baldur's gate. i hated that game, i'm not sure why - i'm usually an RPG nut.)
my favourite game for most of last year was Diablo 2 and, phew, boy, did that game ever have flaws in it!! nevertheless, it was a fine overall experience.
i feel similarly about civ3, i get a bit annoyed with it from time to time, but whenever i play it i have fun. as soon as it stops being fun i'll stop playing. If I'm posting here then Counterglow must be down.

I do find it more interesting in the late game when the AI civs beat up on the smaller AI civs. That never seemed to happen in Civ II. At least in Civ III... if you knock a civ down in size, somebody else will probably finish off the job if you don'tKeep on Civin'

I am not gonna flame anyone, but I disagree with Ming. A game's quality can be defined beyond "whether someone likes it or not".
Civ3 has been shown beyond any reasonable doubt to be an inferior product in comparison to its predecessors. This is my opinion but I state it as fact because it plainly is.
If you fall back to "whether someone likes it or not", then you have to take the position that all games are equally good. That is not logical.
