  • Govt. Engeneering

everyone talks o social engenering in civ3, but what about this:

each govt has its own engernering thing, so in a democray you could choose high patritism, which eliminates war weariness, but also decreases science rate (patriotism is acheived by keeping the public unawhere and basically stupid - ie, USA or WW1 britain).

of course, many other things to. like free market, protectionist trade etc....

    whatcha think?

well, i will take offense at the statment that americans are unaware of what is going on the world (i will say that many of my countrymen are f*ckin' idiots though).

the idea is sound, but as far as your description of democracy, i don't think it works. the US has been the greatest source of scientific deveopment for the last 100 years. and we held our own for the 40 years before that. and yeah, yeah, i know oppenhiemer and von braun, and a bunch of folks came from europe...but they came here, and did the work here. in a democracy being the point i am trying to make. so maybe something else for the model

I think that's the funiest thing I 've seen here since Lib disappeared.

you can make govt specific buildings. they can simulate this effect.
I am currently trying to do this with my mod. so far it's working. Willem has more experience doing this though, so check the threads in civ 3 creation.
        cheers.

well, the thing about the americans was a bit unfair. no actually it wasnt..... same goes for WW1 britain. And what i said above was basically an example, more things like free market, green, industrial based economy, services. and so on.

basicaslly, so each govt/ has many variaions, so you can have a nice friendly communism (ie socialism) or a nasty opressive democracy (ie USA, no only joking ) Or a demo that is set up like an elected dictatorship (the Blair govt. is getting more and more like this daily).

Now that you mention it ... I already wondered why the forums looked different to me recently.

Does that mean the effects of gov-spec. buildings vanish if you change government AND return if you change back?

I think a system like in SMAC would be best.
