It seems to me that awfully frequently, an AI defender will lose hp continually until he is down to one, and after that will win every time and kill your unit. Is it just me, or does this happen a lot?

Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes, it does happen, a lot more than a normal distribution of any randon set of numbers would give. It's not really a one-way AI cheating just to kill your units but more like the "supposedly random" numbers are somehow skewed so that they would swing one way and then the other. The 2-MP units are still very strong despite of this phenomenon though so I'm not complaining .
Anyway, the outcome of the dice rolls is still preset so if you want to cheat, it's still possible by changing the sequence of events.

RobertA strategy guide? Yeah, it's what used to be called the manual.

I've don't think I've seen this more than I should expect from true random numbers. Maybe the game just like me as much as the AI players?
Seriously speaking though: To me, the computer does not seem to cheat when it comes to battle calculations. Humans tend to remember the few special situations and forget all the normal situations inbetween. I'm inclined to think that this is the case here as well.If you cut off my head, what do I say:
Me and my body or me and my head?

I don't think combat is skewed against the player on regent, but it is on monarch and above. I think warlord and chieftan are skewed to help the human. But I don't mind that. I just think its kinda odd that whenever I attack cities, that happens. An interesting strategy would be to use conscripts firs, to get their elites down to 1 hp, and thn take it. I wonder if that would work."You're the biggest user of hindsight that I've ever known. Your favorite team, in any sport, is the one that just won.
